Family Apartment

As you all know, I am a Sims 4 player.
Recently the game got a nice update which gave us toddlers!!!
So I've used this opportunity to create a nice apartment for a family with a nice couple of kids around.
For this setting I've let myself be inspired by a comfortable house setting in a slight uptown neighborhood. Medium class I suppose, going towards higher class.
The apartment's design and interior is open for personal touches and ideas.

The entrance:

The entrance is quite simple, since the space here isn't enormous.
If you'd fill this up with a lot of things, it would tend to feel a bit cramped.
The use of soft colors and a light wooden floor, gives decoration options free range.
Here you might add a shelf or a nice painting or two to give it more character.

The living room:

The nice blue wall makes a perfect modern eyecatcher for this place and sets the tone for a nice colorsceme. This apartment has slight modern influences and the use of colors is not too bold.
Nice and tidy, to keep the place a bit more relaxed with busy toddlers/children around.
Some solid furniture is all this place really needs, white/black works nice here!

The dining room:

This part of the apartment is actually an open design, so the living and dining are in the same area.
The use of carpets gives it a nice bonding feeling, while leaving enough space to make the dining apart from the living. For the kitchen a subtle marmer table is used with strong wooden table legs.
Some nice paintings and a wallpaper to stand out works wonderfully here. It wouldn't be a safe bet to try these different styles in one area, but go wild for a change and you'd be surprised!

The kitchen:
The kitchen of this apartement is seperated by the use of open walls. No doors in this part of the house, but that gives it an extra charm. A choice of light colors is what this smaller area needs. Since dark colors would make this feel small. A nice tile wall to contrast with the wooden counters is perfect here!

The study nook:

The cornered area behing the kitchen is the best place for a nice study area.
No distractions here and so relaxing. If you'd like, you could put a bookshelf next to the desk, so there is also the option to do some reading. A cabinet for administration work also suits here well.

The bathroom:

With a big family you would need a big bathroom. Luckily that is exactly what this apartment has to offer. Double sinks, with double mirrors. A bathtub and a shower. This bathroom has all a family would need! Natural materials give this bathroom a serene look.

Teen bedroom:
This room is nicely decorated for an independent teenager.
It has a nice view over the city and enough space to listen to music, paint, read or do homework.
If you just want to hang out with friends, that would be no problem!
Bring out some extra pillows, turn the music on and you're all set.

The toddler domain:

For this room I used the word domain, cause let's be honest, it quite is.
A seperate play area is what makes this the ideal room to keep the little ones at ease.
The bright patterns and fun environment stimulates the brains to the fullest!
A reading corner for some nice story telling and the beds are seperated by open walls.
You would be able to play a kiddie fence to keep the little ones out of the play room at night.

The Master bedroom:

This is the room for the parents to unwind from their hectic lives and just relax.
Which this room is perfect for with the nice green colors and the charming view of the city.
Where as the sun sets you can watch the beautiful skyline even more.
A desk to do some focused work on is never overrated, so no doubt this will be used a lot.

Starter house

Today I would like to share a simple starter house I've created recently.
I got inspired by natural materials and for the color scheme I took a look at the dress of the sim used.
This to change up my usual colors a bit and to see what would come out of it.

The exterior:

For the outside of the house, I used wooden panels in combination with grey/brown bricks.
These elements combined give an inviting look and feel.
The wooden framed modern windows, make sure that there is enough light coming in.
I kept the foundation quite basic, since this particular plot leaves room for expansions later on.
So this way, it's always possible to add an extra room if needed/desired.

The entrance:

For the flooring I used a wooden zigzag pattern. The color of the wood works nicely with the doors and windows. This makes the house flow nicely.
A few small decorations make this entrance practical and nice.
The light wooden wall keeps the mood mellow.

The Living room/study:

As you can see, I used brown and white as basics for this house.
The simple combination of an almost wine red wall and purple couch, makes this living room unique and suited for somebody who dares to stand out.
Since the colors are well spoken, it's important to keep that in mind when looking for furniture/decorations. You don't want the house to turn into a disco...
So I've chosen for dark grey pillows, a mix of small tables and a grey carpet to put the room together.

For a study area, red wouldn't be your first choice perse, so to keep things light use some simple wall decorations. The bookshelf and desk are soft and gentle, which brings the sharp contrast of the red a bit down. Some scented candles always do well.

The kitchen:

With this open floorplan we want to bring the light inside.
To do so, long windows with a panel are a nice option.
The kitchen is made of matching wood, to keep the place nice and sunny.
As a detail, I chose for red panels to bring back some color in there.

The dining:

A marmer dining table is what this place screamed for!
Bring in some stones to break off the wood, but keeping things natural.
Matching stone white chairs and the right carpet, make this open dining a cozy place to be.
Who wouldn't want a piece of that pie now?

The Bathroom:

Bathrooms can be tricky to work with, since they have a tendency of being harsh.
I wanted to prevent this, so I stuck with natural materials.
The light wooden floor, combined with a partially wooden sink, give this small room a personality.
Some small decorations and you're done!

The bedroom:

The bedroom is a place where, let's be honest, clutter tends to pop up.
So to keep it organized, make sure to have some shelves/boxes to keep things tidy.
I used a light orang wallpaper on half of the room and a playful wallpaper on the other half.
To tone the playful wallpaper down a bit, I chose for dark curtains, which keep the light outside if you'd want.

Marron's Apartment

The first place I would like to show you all, is actually an apartment.
I recently purchased the expansion pack "City Living", for The Sims 4 and am having some fun with just doing the interior design.
I actually created a geeky and clumsy sim for this apartment, so I kept that in mind.

I got inspired by pastel colors and an older, romantic vibe that I tried to combine with the live in the c ity. I tried to make this apartment really girly and one in which you would see the personality of the person living there shine through a lot.

The entrance/study area:

Since this is somebody who loves to read and spend time behind the computer, I gave her all that she would need for that. It's an open apartment and I did not want to make it feel cramped.
Bookshelf in the left corner, to keep open eyes to the doors and a desk on the right, which fits nicely besides the cornered wall.

 The Living Area:

Some nice romantic couches and pillows work really nicely here. Keeping the color sceme mild, but  playful. It's a cozy corner to relax with some friends.

 The Kitchen:

To prevent the apartment from being a bit bland, I gave the cornered wall a popping wallpaper.
Added by a motivational wallpiece, cause let's be honest, some positive vibes are always good!
The kitchen is nice and white, with some natural materials such as wood.
As for the dining table, it reminds me of one of those you would find in a vintage store and was  probably once used in a flower garden. Which leads back to the chairs and couches used in here  aswell.

Bedroom:

Since this person lives alone, there was all the space needed for a big bedroom.
Leading to this sweet romantic room, with once again the use of the wallpaper.
The pastel colors combine really nicely and keeps the mood of the house relaxed with the wood.
On the second part of the bedroom, you find a nice fireplace, to spend those cold Winter days.
Now just one chair there, but who knows when a loveseat will replace that...
With a pair of neutral paintings, the wallpaper gets a better turn on this side.

The Bathroom:

"Cozy" and "girly" are the words you can use for this small, but practical bathroom.
It really gives you all things needed with the limited amount of space there is.
The use of a nice stone wall, gives a richer look to it.

2017 New Year, New Goals!

Hello World!

So 2017 has started and we all know, that we make new plans and goals, which we then follow...
This year I will start with sharing a passion of mine, Interior Design, via this blog.
Since I am a fan of The Sims 4, this is the platform I use to express myself.
(With the lovely help of all cc creators out there, whom I am grateful for, for sharing their skills).
In this blog, I will show you some of my previous builds, current builds and will talk about what inspires me. I will also take some time to share some tips to build nice things yourself in the game!

Build Goals:

Since I use The Sims 4, I will build and decorate at least 2 houses each month.
In my designs, you will hopefully see my own style shine through and get inspired yourself!
In the meantime I am also open for build requests, without the use of Custom Content, and the maximum lot size of 40x30.

Where to find me:
I have a facebook page, on where I share my builds and some of my gameplay.
https://www.facebook.com/marronsimcorp/
And you can find my builds in the Gallery of the game under Shinjiro4Life.

If you want to say or ask anything, feel free to leave a message under my blogs.
